NBC Removes Brittany Murphy SNL Sketch from the Web

Two weeks ago, NBC aired a sketch on Saturday Night Live that depicted a loopy Brittany Murphy (played by Abby Elliott) talking about how she had been fired from her latest film.

Funny at the time — now, maybe not so much. NBC has pulled the sketch off of Hulu but was that necessary? It’s not as if they were mocking her passing, and mocking is, after all, what SNL does for a living.

Should they have pulled the sketch from the web? And doesn’t removing it in the first place, cause more interest in the piece than if they’d just left it alone? (Think MTV and the whole Snookie gets punched video.)

What do you think? A nice move on NBC’s part or more fuel for the fire?
