ESPN continues to present its NCAA Tournament 2012 bracket predictions online. Most recently, it was Bracketology expert, Joe Lunardi, weighing in with his March Madness picks including Final Four teams and the eventual champions.
For his NCAA Tournament games, Lunardi has few shocking results in the second round games. He played it safe for the most part with the higher seeds getting the wins, although he does have a #13 seed upsetting a #4 with New Mexico State sending home the Indiana Hoosiers early. That would certainly be a shocker. Lunardi also took the ACC’s NC State at a #11 seed to defeat #6 San Diego State, and #10 West Virginia to defeat #7 seed Gonzaga.
For all those wondering how deep Lunardi believes Syracuse will go in this Big Dance, he’s got them advancing to the Sweet 16, yet losing to #4 seed Wisconsin. Lunardi also has Wisconsin making it to the Final Four in New Orleans. His other non #1 seed is Missouri, who he believes will meet Kentucky in the Final Four, and lose. He also believes Wisconsin loses to the UNC Tarheels.
In Lunardi’s predictions that will set up a National Title game featuring Kentucky against North Carolina. In the battle of the two #1 seeds, Lunardi has Kentucky winning it all and cutting down the nets. It seems like a safe pick for the ESPN Bracketology expert, as many of his colleagues, and many other reporters and fans are going with the overall #1 seed.
Of note, Joe Lunardi’s pick is also against the prediction made by President Barack Obama. Obama selected North Carolina to win it all this year. Maybe Lunardi and Obama should make a side bet, in Vegas!
