The Netherlands played another dominating, if not flashy, world cup game again today; efficiently beating Japan by a score of 1 – 0.

Wesley Sneijder struck a beautiful ball from just outside the box in the 53rd minute, giving the Netherlands their second win in as many tries. With six points, they control the group and have looked dominating so far. The Dutch, with a game still at hand, can already advance to the second round if Denmark defeats or ties Cameroon later today.

Japan only managed two shots on goal, while looking over-matched for much of the game. However, with Japan already having three points from a win against Cameroon, they are still in good position to advance as the runner-ups in Group E. They will likely be watching the Denmark – Cameroon game later today, while hoping for a draw.

The Netherlands are clearly far and way the best team in this group, and likely won’t be challenged until the start of the second round.
