New ‘Mad Men’ Season 5 Finale Preview: Recap of the Big Moments of the Season

Mad Men season 5 comes to an end this weekend with episode 13, “The Phantom.” It’s been a rocky season, which did start off a bit slower than expected after a 17-month break, but has gotten much better over the season. The wait for more episodes will begin again after Sunday’s.

Season 5 Finale Promo

<br><a href="http://...It’s been a season of ups and downs, but hopefully it will end on a high note. The finale is going to be showing the characters receiving some opportunities and it’s hard not to wonder if somehow Peggy could be brought back into the fold before the season ends. Elisabeth Moss’ future on the show is uncertain. Meanwhile, Jared Harris’ isn’t, as Lane committed suicide in the last episode, and the finale is going to show how everyone reacts to that.

AMC has released a new Mad Men season 5 finale promo for “The Phantom” (below), and it highlights some of the big moments that occurred over the course of the season. That includes Joan telling Greg to go and never come back and her reaction upon receiving the divorce papers in reception. That led to one of the best scenes of the season when Don took her to a bar. The preview also shows Joan saying she wants a partnership, and she did get what she wanted, even though it was so sad to see that she did go through with what she was pressured to do to get it.

The video also shows Peggy telling Don it’s time for her to move on. She left the agency behind for a better opportunity, and while it was time for her to move on, it was hard not to hate seeing her go. After all, she’s an integral part of the show and has been since the beginning. It’s because of that that it’s hard to imagine that was her last episode.

Also seen in the preview is the clip of Lane punching Pete, which was definitely a high point of the season. Pete deserved it then, and honestly, he deserved it again after his recent behavior. However, Lane isn’t around to do it again, and the promo also shows Lane’s suicide, including Cooper breaking the news to Don and Roger and the men staring at his body. It did seem like a lot had been leading up to that moment for Lane, and while it wasn’t as shocking as it could have been, it is something that is going to have repercussions for the agency going forward.

Speaking of Pete’s behavior, there’s also a clip of Pete and Beth. While it was hard not to focus on the fact that Alexis Bledel plays Beth, it was also just something else to add to the list of things annoying you about Pete. It’s not like he has a horrible wife at home. However, that didn’t stop him from looking elsewhere. Could Beth return in the season 5 finale?

Finally, there’s a look at Megan and Don’s relationship in the promo, and it showcases how they’ve been fighting and making up in practically every episode this season. They’ve defied some expectations and actually stayed together all season. Could that change after the finale or even next season?

Will you be tuning in to the Mad Men season 5 finale “The Phantom”?
