New Memories

When I lost my father

After my daughter was born

I felt so lost and sad

My heart had been torn

Yet, I did heal

From that loss over time

I learned to express my grief

Through my words and my rhymes

Then came another

Tragic dark loss

And I wondered if living

Was really worth the cost

But I have the memories

Of all the good times had

With those that I have lost

Especially my Mom and my Dad

So know you will feel sorrow

And work through your pain

For starting tomorrow

You have new memories to gain!
