NFL: Pacman Jones Falsely Arrested

On Sunday after the Tampa Bay buccaneers lost to Cincinnati, Adam Jones aka Pacman was arrested. He was arrested for driving into the sidewalk, causing a pedestrian to fall. The victim wasn’t harmed, but Jones stayed behind just in case.

When the police arrived they did a routine check on Pacman. The dispatcher then told the officers, that Jones had a warrant out for his arrest. Immediately the cornerback was arrested and placed in the police car. Nearly an hour later the police realized they were making a mistake. It turns out they didn’t hear the dispatcher when she said the warrant was for someone else.

To avoid further embarrassment the police dropped Jones off two blocks away from the scene. They also apologized to the NFL star.

Jones’s agent, Thomas Hunter said what happened was stupid and it deprived Jones of his liberty, and embarrassed him in front of everybody.

“Everybody saw him being arrested,” Hunter said.

Jones tried to tell the police they were making a mistake, but they had to do their job. The dispatcher should have at least apologized to him as well, because it was her fault. What if Pacman was held in custody, then the police department would be sued.
