With the NFL Draft just around the corner, several teams are looking to make changes. For the Carolina Panthers, they just want to reduce their salary cap and add some free agent help to solidify areas of need.
CBS Sports has reported that head coach Ron Rivera is looking to move one of their running backs and DeAngelo Williams is tops on that list. The 29-year-old is set to make over $8 million next season and with the Panthers struggling to find cap space, moving the veteran is in the best interest of the franchise.
Several teams around the league could use a running back that has over 5,700 career rushing yards and 49 touchdowns, but few teams have the money to make such a deal. One franchise that has the need and money is Green Bay and Williams would make a great fit in a Packers uniform.
Not only has the veteran back averaged 4.9 yards per carry in his NFL career, but he also is a good pass catching threat out of the back field and would give quarterback Aaron Rodgers a solid weapon to utilize in the upcoming football season.
