The NHL is getting closer to the trade deadline and several teams need to make a move before it is too late. Teams are in two categories at this point of the season, either teams trying to make the playoffs or ones that need to start rebuilding, looking to dump salary and add some youth.
Philadelphia is a team that is looking to stay in contention for home ice advantage in the playoffs and recent injuries are making it tough. The Flyers need to add a veteran, especially on defense if they want to keep pace with the likes of Boston and Pittsburgh. The team has several good young players that they could use to make a deal and it is likely to happen in the near future.
Calgary is on the other side of the fence as the team is struggling again this season and have several veterans that they could trade and start rebuilding with the players and draft picks they would receive. The Flames had their run at the playoffs a few years ago, but it is now time to look towards the future and start the rebuilding process while they can still receive some decent prospects in return for the veterans they have on their roster.
The NHL has been busier over the last few years when the trade deadline approaches and this season should have a flurry of activity as teams look to bolster their rosters and make a run at the playoffs.
