Nicki Minaj Big Winner at 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards

Hip-Hop artist Nicki Minaj was a big winner at the 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards. The award ceremony was held Saturday night in Atlanta, Georgia. Minaj was the recipient of three of the evening’s more prominent awards.

According to Popeater, Nicki Minaj received the awards for Rookie of the Year, People’s Champ and the Made You Look award. The latter of the three is awarded for what are deemed “unforgettable fashions.”

In her acceptance speech, Nicki Minaj said a very special thank you.

“I’m paving the way for girls,” she said. “I wanna thank all the girls of hip-hop.”

Other “girls of hip-hop” receiving awards included the ladies of “Salt-N-Pepa.” They received the “I Am Hip-Hop” award.

Jay-Z Wins Big

Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z was a big winner in addition to Nicki Minaj, winning three awards himself. Jay-Z won Best Live Performer, Perfect Combo (for his Alicia Keys duet “Empire State of Mind”), CD of the Year (for ‘The Blueprint 3′).

Nicki Minaj has made a name for herself in the world of hip-hop with her distinct style…both musically and aesthetically. Congratulations to Nicki Minaj for winning big at the 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Although the 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards were held Saturday night, they won’t be televised until October 12 on the BET channel at 8PM ET.
