Nicki Minaj Trashes Dad on TV, Wanted to Kill Him

Nicki Minaj really trashed her dad on TV during a recent Nightline interview, and now he’s both hurt and being defended by the family. She even said that as a child she wanted to kill him.

According to a report from TMZ, the Stupid Hoe rapper said her dad was a violent alcoholic and drug addict who once even burned down the family home. She claims he repeatedly threatened to kill her mother.

Nicki’s dad, called only ‘Omar’ in the interview, is open about having had anger issues when his daughter was young, but says it wasn’t anything like what she is describing.

“I wanted to kill [my dad]. I used to wish he was dead … ‘We were afraid for my mother’s life because whenever he would have a real bad outburst he would threaten to kill her,” Nicki Minaj said in the interview.

Family sources say her memories are ‘grossly exaggerated.’ It’s also reported that Omar had no idea that Nicki felt this way about him during her childhood. It seems that what hurts the most now is that she aired this all in a public format rather than speaking to him privately about the matter.

Do you think Nicki Minaj is perhaps confused about her father’s behavior, recalling things far worse than they really were because she was just a child? Or do you think her father is embarrassed that his dirty laundry has been hung out for everyone to see, and he’s scrambling to smooth things over in the media?

Childhood abuses can have a profound effect on people as adults, but memories can also become misconstrued over time. If Nicki believes these things really did take place, she should seek the counsel of a recommended therapist to help her sort out fact from fiction and deal with them in a more mature manner.
