Final results from all four of today’s NIT basketball tournament 2010 games are out and while it wasn’t on par with the thrills filling up the March Madness 2010 brackets, it still included some memorable moments.
The two most exciting game’s from round 2 of the tournament involved Rhode Island, Nevada, Virginia and Connecticut.
The 2-seeded Rhode Island Rams beat Nevada 85-83 behind 34 points from Delroy James. The sixth seed, Nevada made things close outscoring Rhode Island by three points in the second half, but ultimately fell short. Brandon Fields scored 28 for Nevada in the loss.
Those weren’t the only tense moments of the night though, as No.1 seed Virginia Tech outlasted the Connecticut Huskies for a 65-63 win. Down five at halftime, the Hokies had to fight in the second half to earn the win and chance to advance to the next round of the NIT tournament.
With March Madness not getting back into action until Thursday, all eyes will be on tomorrow’s other NIT games, including the matchup between North Carolina and UAB.
