Who says the NIT basketball tournament doesn’t provide its own brand of March Madness?
While it’s obviously not the same as its big brother – the NCAA College Basketball tournament 2010 – it is still capable of providing some thrills, as evidenced by the game that just ended between Ole Miss and Texas Tech.
Both teams battled it out for two regulation periods and then two full-overtimes, before Ole Miss finally won it 90-87 on an old-fashioned three-point-play by Murphy Holloway with 4 seconds left.
Chris Warren lead Ole Miss with 22 points and Mike Singletary put up 28 points and 8 rebounds for Texas Tech. Mississippi was fortunate to win the game, after converting on only 19-31 free throw attempts in the game, a lowly 61.3 percentage.
Ole Miss will now face the winner of tomorrow’s game between Dayton and Illinois.
For those keeping score at home, here’s an updated bracket from the NIT basketball tournament.
