No casualties or deaths have been reported as a result of the Vanuatu quake today so far. Hopes certainly shared that none will be reported as a result of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake.

Where is Vanuatu? Good question. The South Pacific has been hit with an earthquake reportedly a 7.2 magnitude. The possibility of a tsunami has caused a warning to be issued. The area includes Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and New Caledonia.

The earthquake hit around 4:00 May 28, 2010 (Friday local time). The epicenter was 485 km from the capital of Vanuatu’s capital Port Vila.

For many it is a relief to know that there are no casualties or death as happened when Haiti was struck several months ago. The devastation that occurred there was overwhelming and there is still so much more that needs to be done.

If there was only a way to be forewarned of earthquakes in time to protect the mass population.
