It's been a big week for Chip Reid. He's the CBS News Chief White House Correspondent, and that means he's followed the President to Europe to cover his historic first trip abroad. Unfortunately, while in Britain, Chip's father passed away. He initially wanted to return home to the States, but his family convinced him to stay and continue to report on Obama's trip, as his father would have wanted.
President Obama today took his final question from Chip Reid, and before hearing the question, the President acknowledged Reid's loss: "Chip, my heart goes out to you." To which Reid replied, "Thank you. Thank you very much, Mr. President. I appreciate that."
And then Reid did what he came there to do, asking the President how much he encountered the perception at the G-20 Summit that the U.S. was mainly responsible for the global financial crisis.
Keep on truckin, Chip. Our hearts go out to you too.
