The official trailer for Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has just been released online and despite being a rapid-fire, dialogue-less montage it is clear that director David Fincher of The Social Network has another clear winner on his hands.
Last weekend the pirated version of the red-band trailer popped up YouTube, featuring a shaky handed recording of the same trailer which premiered in theaters with box office hit The Hangover 2. While the official trailer is fairly indistinguishable from the red-band version, which has since been pulled from YouTube, the HD quality really brings David Fincher’s dark vision of the best-selling Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to life.
On the heels of enormous critical success with The Social Network, it’s looking like Fincher will have another clear shot at Oscar gold based on the trailer alone. It is certainly not an easy road to success for this adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Fincher has millions of rabid fans of the Millenium series to appease, not to mention the inevitable comparisons to the critically acclaimed Swedish film adaptation. If this initial trailer is any indication, however, the dark images coupled with Trent Reznor’s moody chops are a good sign of this film’s success with critics and fans alike.
The official HD Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trailer is available for viewing at the Apple Trailers website. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
