One Direction Gets Grammy Awards Snub Like Justin Bieber, But Simon Cowell Doesn’t Care!

Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun took his “Boyfriend” singer’s 2013 Grammy Awards snub pretty seriously, even going so far as to say the board “blew it.” But the Biebs wasn’t the only bold name missing from the nominations list—fellow heartthrobs from One Direction, including Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik, didn’t score any noms for the big trophy either. And, shockingly enough, their outspoken manager and The X Factor head honcho, Simon Cowell, isn’t ranting his disgust on Twitter. Rather, he’s taking it all in stride.

File:One Direction X Factor Live Glasgow.jpg“You know what’s more important? Fans; record sales; I’ve always said that. Maybe next year they’ll get something,” Cowell recently told MTV of 1D’s absence from the Grammy nominations, as Entertainmentwise reports. Nor are the boys torn up about the news; Cowell specifically said that they’re “not complaining.”

And why should they—complain, that is? Styles, Horan, Tomlinson, Payne and Malik have experienced a rather meteoric rise to the top of the charts since their start on The X Factor UK. Crushes of Directioners love them, and their bank accounts are all the better for it. And while they’re deserving of recognition, One Direction’s brand of bubblegum pop that especially appeals to the teeny-bopper set may still be a bit too juvenile for the Grammys, although Carly Rae Jepsen’s catchy, cutesy “Call Me Maybe” did get a “song of the year” nod.

Ironically, Simon Cowell did have a bit more to say about Justin Bieber’s snub, even admitting that he “deserved” a nomination and that the Grammys can get a bit “snobby.” See how all the trophies shake out when the 55th annual Grammy Awards are announced in Los Angeles, Calif. on Feb. 10, 2013.
