One Direction has inspired a hilarious cartoon that reveals singers Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Harry Styles’ secret identities – the guys are superheroes!
The five of them are called into action by PSYMON, which is Simon Cowell’s giant head floating in a tube (his character is obviously based on Zordon from Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers). The singers are told that their mission is to save all the cats of the world from Skeletor-like baddie Lord Faptaguise, who has catnapped them (some Directioners in the know will definitely giggle about Harry Styles saving cats.)
The cartoon is entitled The Adventurous Adventures of One Direction, the glorious brainchild of a male fan named Mark Ronson. The poor guy was getting tired of all the cheesy 1D tribute videos made by girls, so he got a little more creative with his by animating the band. The result is incredibly funny, and it will definitely have some fans wishing that Mark gets paid to do a whole series of the cartoons (he certainly deserves it).
The cartoon references Harry’s four nipples, as well as his love of tacos and older ladies – the tasty treats affect him the same way spinach affects Popeye, and he falls for a henchwoman named April/May who looks a lot like April from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The video is loaded with pop culture references – in addition to those referenced above, Sir Paul McCartney makes an appearance as a Jedi warrior who teaches Louis Tomlinson the secret to operating a giant magnet that will attract all the kidnapped cats.
Zayn Malik and Niall Horan dress up in bras and skirts to distract two guards; Harry Styles gets hit in the crotch by Louis Tomlinson every time he makes a bad word pun; Zayn Malik’s hair helps save the day; and every now and then some Pop Up Video-like bubbles appear to reveal some fun facts about the guys.
There are some rather hilarious lines, like when Harry tries to split up from Louis and he responds by saying, “We can’t go in two directions. We have to go in one direction.” Harry also discovers the secret to hitting the high note that makes the cat magnet work – he gets high with a little from his friends when Louis kicks him in the crotch.
You can check out the incredibly funny video below. Even if Mark Ronson doesn’t get his own 1D series, he’ll definitely have a future in cartoons – he even voices all the characters himself.
