One Direction’s Zayn Malik Is Self-Conscious: He Wants a Few Extra Inches!

Zayn Malik may be the most edgy of the One Direction group, as he emanates a sort of suave, bad-boy vibe that Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and not even cougar-chaser Harry Styles can match. But under his perfectly coiffed hair, his strong collection of hardcore tattoos, his occasional affinity to pencil on the guyliner, and his undeniable boy-band talent, Malik is self-conscious about one thing.

“I’d like to be a bit taller,” Malik recently told Top of the Pops magazine, as Sugarscape reports. He’s missing the “tall” part of the tall, dark and handsome equation. But while he’s not opposed to wearing makeup, he apparently would never cross over into slipping on a pair of heels to boost his height. “I’d never wear platform boots. I think they’re embarrassing, but I’d actually like to be about 1.8m tall,” Malik revealed.

File:Zayn Malik 2012.jpgAccording to popular Internet wisdom, Malik currently measures in at a short-to-average 5 feet 9 inches tall. And, 1.8m is approximately 5 feet 10 inches, so he’s not all that far from his goal height. And he’s only 19, so he may have another inch or more left in him anyway. If not, all the crush of Directioners don’t seem to mind that Malik is not the tallest drink of water out there. Plus, he can always supplement his height with that sky-high pompadour-inspired hairstyle!

What’s more, Zayn Malik’s girlfriend, Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, doesn’t seem to find her boy stunted at all, even though she may tower over him once she puts on her own pairs of stilettos or platforms.

But, really, none of the One Direction boys have the tallness gene. They all appear to relatively be the same height. And that’s probably a good thing, as it creates even more harmony among the “Live While We’re Young” singers. A slightly shorter physique probably avoids any awkward lankiness on stage, too.
