Ozzy Osbourne is lashing out at an “anti-gay” church that used one of his hit songs during a demonstration that protested gays in the military. The Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church used his 1980 hit “Crazy Train” during a Washington demonstration on Thursday.

Ozzy “Sickened and Disgusted” by Westboro Baptist Church Actions

According to Popeater, Ozzy Osbourne made the following statement regarding the group’s use of his song.

“I’m sickened and disgusted by the use of ‘Crazy Train’ to promote messages of hate and evil by a ‘church,'” he said.

As the church group protested this week, they used a portion of his song….turning it into an anti-gay chant of sorts.

“You’re going straight to hell on your crazy train.”

Song Does Not Promote Hate-Mongering

Osbourne points out that the song does not contain a hate-mongering message. Instead it is a song that promotes “tolerance and understanding,” as shown in the actual lyrics. Here’s the first line in Ozzy’s song “Crazy Train.” E!Online reports that

Crazy, but that’s how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it’s not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate

E!Online reports that “the church in question is Westboro Baptist Church, a group known less for its choir than for its noisy, anti-gay protests staged at the funerals of U.S. soldiers, regardless of the fallen’s sexual orientation. The small congregation, which chants things like “You’re Going to Hell” and other feel-bad sentiments because it somehow associates dead soldiers with homosexuality in general, has garnered more attention now that their activities have turned into a free speech debate.”

Ozzy Osbourne is indeed sickened by the use partial lyrics of his song outside the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. He joins a long list of celebrities and entertainers who are using their stardom to speak out against these hate crimes.
