The People’s Choice Awards 2012 winners are being announced during the live show on CBS. To kick off the show, Favorite Movie Actress went to Emma Stone for The Help.
The movie The Help is already generating plenty of buzz in terms of movie awards with the Golden Globes and Oscars on the way in the coming weeks and months. Already, Emma Stone has grabbed an award for her role in the film. On Wednesday evening she took home Favorite Movie Actress among the evening’s 2012 PCA winners.
Frank Grillo, Dermott Mulrooney and Liam Neeson presented the award for the Favorite Movie Actress. Emma nearly tripped walking up the steps, but kept her balance en route to grabbing her glass award. Emma Stone beat out Jennifer Anniston, Julia Roberts and Anne Hathaway to win this one, showcasing how much of a rising star she is.
She delivered an emotional speech thanking everyone, saying she was choked up and nervous. Stone noted that she moved to LA 8 years ago to the week with her mother who got pointed out in the crowd. Emma talked about the insanity of the moment and how unbelievable it is. She made the point that people should “stay true to yourself” no matter what others may say, because it’s worth it.
This is a great win for Emma Stone, who got her breakout roles in comedies such as Superbad, and Easy A. She’ll be seen in the upcoming superhero reboot of Spiderman as well. However, winning awards for a critically acclaimed film like The Help will go a long way towards getting her great future movie projects. Expect to see plenty more of Emma!
