Pete Wentz tried talking wife Ashlee Simpson out of divorcing him. Ashlee Simpson-Wentz filed for divorce papers from her husband on Wednesday morning, much to Pete’s chagrin.

According to a report from TMZ, Wentz was very vocal about not wanting to split from wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. He tried desperately, to no avail, however, to talk her out of filing the papers on Wednesday.

Sources say there was no changing Ashlee’s mind, though. She claims she is adamant about wanting the marriage to be over.

Just this past Saturday night, Pete Wentz was seen partying up a storm at the Mercedes-Benz Tweet Race, and that he even posed for a picture for fans while atop an enormous live bull. Sources say he appeared like he hadn’t a care in the world, and was wearing his wedding band.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, however, claims part of the reason she filed for divorce from Pete Wentz was her husband’s “erratic behavior.” Wentz was diagnosed with bipolar disease at the age of 18 and even attempted suicide in 2005, so erratic behavior isn’t out of the question.

Was Pete Wentz blindsided by the divorce filing on Wednesday or is his “erratic behavior” causing lapses in his judgment?

Wentz is the bassist and lyricist for the band Fall Out Boys, which is presently on a lengthy hiatus. He presently performs with an experimental band called Black Cards. He and Ashlee Simpson married in 2008.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz had a lengthy role on the TV series 7th Heaven, and launched a music career shortly thereafter. She may be best remembered, however, for a failed stint as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live, where it became clear to all who watched her that she was lip-syncing.

Regardless of the whys and hows of Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz’s divorce, it’s always sad to see a marriage dissolve. The Wentz’s have a little boy named Bronx, and as anyone who has either experienced or witnessed divorce up close and personal knows, it’s even more difficult when a child is involved.
