Philadelphia Eagles Want Robert Griffin III?

A Philadelphia Eagles trade for Robert Griffin III, or rather the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft could become a reality. The Eagles want Griffin apparently, as reported by Phil Sheridan of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Sheridan believes that Andy Reid could make a huge move up the board at the upcoming 2012 NFL Draft, putting the team in a position to draft the successor to Michael Vick.

It is nothing short of shocking to hear that the Eagles are getting linked to Griffin, especially with such a talented quarterback in Vick still taking the snaps. Maybe the understanding here is that Griffin isn’t quite ready to take over as a starting quarterback in the NFL and that the Eagles would merely place him in the cupboard as someone who could train behind Vick. After what is described as a positive meeting between the Eagles and RG3 at the NFL Combine, maybe this isn’t a far-fetched scenario.

Most NFL analysts would agree that the Cleveland Browns have the best package to offer the St. Louis Rams (current owners of that No. 2 pick), but nobody knows what Philadelphia might put on the table. Cleveland can give up the No. 4 and No. 22 picks this year, giving St. Louis two good picks to help re-build that roster. It shouldn’t surprise anyone though, that a team like Philadelphia would have renewed interest in Griffin, especially after a very nice showing at the combine.

Do you think that the Philadelphia Eagles could really trade for the No. 2 pick and select Robert Griffin III in the 2012 NFL Draft? Should the St. Louis Rams even trade the No. 2 overall selection?
