Porn Sites Least Likely to be Infected by Viruses

Symantec has released its virus hazard report for 2011 and found that porn sites are the least likely group to be infected and that Macs are no longer immune from threats once associated only with PCs. Huh? Has the world gone crazy?

The report, culled from incidents reported in 2011, takes a different approach from prior studies.

In this scenario, Symantec classifies website types rather than individual targets and finds that the number one victim class are blogs and web communications. That make sense.

More surprising results are found as the list winds down (it consists of 10 classes) with entertainment and even health related sites more likely to contain malicious code than porn sites, which last year accounted for about two percent overall.

What does this mean?

It either reflects the fact that XXX-rated sites are getting more legitimate, or that hackers are going after the more unsuspecting visitors to what have been traditionally considered as “safer” sites to land on.

Either way, it marks a turning point for millions of web surfers worldwide.

Free sex is safe(r) again!
