Now that the Mega Millions results are in, hopeful lottery winners can turn their attention to the Powerball winning numbers for March 31, 2012. The Powerball results are 5, 14, 36, 54, 58, and the Powerball number is 27. Saturday’s estimated jackpot was for $60,000,000 to be paid out in 30 annual payments, or a cash payout of $36,200,000.
When you look at the difference between the humongous March 30th Mega Millions jackpot of $640,000,000, and the March 31st Powerball jackpot of $60,000,000, it seems like more than one zero is missing, but there really isn’t!
Powerball Lottery Winners March 31, 2012
Although there were no Powerball jackpot winners, there was plenty of money to go around with this drawing! There were three (3) Match 5 + 0 winning tickets for $1,000,000 that were sold by the New Mexico Lottery, New York Lottery, and the Virginia Lottery.
Each $1,000,000 lottery winner matched five out of six Powerball winning numbers, but not the Powerball number for the second-tier prize. Because none of those Powerball winners purchased Power Play tickets, they all lost out on an additional $1,000,000!
There were also twenty-six (26) Match 4 + 1 winners for $10,000 each. Three (3) of those winners spent an extra dollar on the Power Play option and will take home $40,000 instead of the standard $10,000 on this size wager. Obviously, these Powerball winners will be thrilled to win a lottery prize of that size, but wouldn’t you feel sick to your stomach if you missed an additional $30,000 in prize money because you didn’t spend the extra dollar on a Power Play ticket?
All together, there were 590,196 Powerball winning tickets sold for the March 31st drawing ranging from $4 to $1,000,000. Were you one of the Powerball lottery winners?
