Once again, President Obama is showing his disdain for our Congress. Obama was speaking at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building near the White House and said, “When Congress refuses to act, Joe and I are going to act. In the months to come, wherever we have an opportunity, we’re going to take steps on our own to keep this economy moving.” The president was thanking Americans and Congress for extending the payroll tax cuts and said it was helping middle-class Americans. He said that if it benefits the middle-class, he will fight for them no matter what Congress says. So, why does the country bother with a Congress if the president can just do whatever he chooses to do?
Even though Obama turned his last State of the Union address into a political campaign commercial, he condemned behavior that Congress might engage in at a later time. He said, “I do hope Congress joins me (in the fight for middle class voters) instead of spending the coming months in a lot of phony political debates focusing on the next election.” He certainly wasn’t joking about his “We Can’t Wait” initiative!
