In one of his most successful comedic moments, the president trumped Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

After an introductory rock music video that showed the long form birth certificate pulsating prominently in a vignette of classic triumphant scenes from “Rocky” and the World Series, the president took the stage, chuckling.

He addressed the crowd with, “My fellow Americans,” (stressing the last word) to wild cheers. He paused and continued. “Mahalo,” a Hawaiian word for ‘thank you.’ More cheers and applause.

After he said how wonderful it was to be there, he said, “What a week.” He continued by saying, “Some of you heard the state of Hawaii released my official long form birth certificate. Hopefully, this puts all doubts to rest.” He said that just in case doubts remain, “I am willing to go a step further. Tonight, for the first time, I am releasing my official birth video.”

After the place erupted in applause (except for Donald Trump. He just sat slumped over like a neglected marionette), the president said, “No one has seen this footage in 50 years, not even me.” He then advised everyone to “take a look.”

Huge video screens throughout the hall then showed a scene from Disney’s wildly popular 1994 movie, “The Lion King.” The scene shows the the newborn cub held up by a “medicine baboon” on a rocky outcropping, on display while all the animal subjects bow. After the clip finished, Obama deadpanned, “Oh well. Back to square one.”

This was a genius move by the president, to show how truly ridiculous the witch hunt by Donald Trump and his fellow birthers was. Obama continued to rib the real estate mogul throughout his speech, and it was evident Trump was not amused.

Obama even gave Matt Damon a good ribbing. The president said he’d heard Matt Damon was disappointed in his performance. “Well, Matt, I just saw ‘The Adjustment Bureau,’ sir,” which drew applause and laughs. The punchline was fairly obvious.

Obama, in a rare show of comedic gold, showed The Donald who is in charge, and it’s not Trump.
