Today, Friday is national hot dog day. How about $69.00 for a hot dog? Yup you got it right, Serendipity 3 restaurant in New York offers what will be dubbed as the most expensive hot dog in the world, the Serendipity Foot-Long Haute Dog.

Let’s break down the ingredients:

1. Beef grilled in a white truffle oil

2. Salted pretzel bread bun toasted with white truffle butter

3. Topped with medallions of duck foie gras,

4. Caramelized Vidalia onions

5. Heirloom tomato catsup

6. Mustard dijon with black truffles

Seems you can identify the common ingredient which is truffle. The French consider it as “diamond in the kitchen” and in Europe you can access black truffle in retail price of 3,490€ per kilo. I think you have an idea why it is expensive now. You can order it with 24 hours prior notice since some of the ingredient should be flown in fresh.

Did you remember the $1,000.00 Golden Opulence Sundae? You can order it at the same restaurant.

Serendipity’s celebrity patrons includes Tom Cruise and Katie, Jay-Z and Beyonce and Cher.

If I have 69 bucks I can spend a hot dog with drinks for two days meal. How about you?
