Raccoons critically injure 9-month-old baby in her crib on Wednesday. Georgia authorities believe that it is possible that the family was keeping the wild animals as their pets, so they are investigating the terrible incident.

The baby’s mother heard her whimpering in the middle of the night, so she went into the room. When she looked in the crib, the mother found two raccoons biting the infant. At that point, she threw the raccoons out of the crib and called to get help.

When they arrived at the home, the deputies found the raccoons, and they ended up shooting one of them because it was acting aggressive. Thankfully the raccoons tested negative for rabies. Unfortunately the baby remains in critical condition due to her head injuries. The poor thing – she will probably be physically scarred for life over this.

If the family was keeping the raccoons that injured their daughter as pets, then they may end up facing charges. Police believe they gained entry to the room by pushing aside the air conditioning unit’s panel. What a terrible incident! Thankfully the mother heard the baby and got some help. Hopefully it was in time for the 9-month-old baby. Hopefully the parents were not the cause of this terrible raccoon attack.
