NOTHING BUT TROUBLE AFTER MIDNIGHT
By Kimberly Blackadar
Love, Betrayal and Forgiveness
Every girl should have a friend like Rob. He’s smart, handsome, an athlete, and has a great sense of humor. He’s also Chloe’s boyfriend. He’s loved her since they were children. She loves him back. They’ve also been best friends and neighbors since childhood. On Chloe’s seventeenth birthday, Rob gives her a Claddagh ring, a family heirloom with a beautiful story of its own. I loved this added touch to their romance.
Kimberly Blackadar’s young adult novel, NOTHING BUT TROUBLE AFTER MIDNIGHT, brings Chloe Preston’s story alive with vivid descriptions, action scenes, and a young girl’s inner most thoughts and fears and hopes. Chloe’s world is a teenager’s dream, but there’s always someone to shatter those dreams. The challenge is to rebuild them or else they’ll die. Once gone, they seldom can be brought back. When the unthinkable happens one night, Chloe and Rob must reach inside themselves to find forgiveness and understanding and how important their relationship is to each other. Is their love strong enough to survive?
NOTHING BUT TROUBLE AFTER MIDNIGHT is a story about everyday teenagers in true-to-life situations. Chloe is confident one moment, doubting herself the next. She and her friends have their fun moments, their tender moments, and their sad moments. Ms. Blackadar’s characters face their challenges, sometimes with courage, sometimes with tears. Everyone who has teenagers in the family or knows teenagers and was once a teenager (covers most everyone, huh) should read this book. You’ll be glad you did. I hear there’s another one on the way. Adding it to my TBR list.
