Is Dancing with the Stars the latest craze in weight loss for celebrities? Ricki Lake, who is on the new season of the DWTS is shedding weight as she works hard to learn the dance routines and prepare for the show. The four to five hour workouts can really kickstart weight loss, and many of the stars have benefitted from the long sessions.
The former talk show host, who is partnered with pro Derek Hough, doesn’t weigh herself but says since starting with the show, “Every part of my body hurts. … When I went in for a costume fitting, I’ve lost 8 1/2 inches. Three inches in my waist. Three in my hips. Over an inch in my thighs and another inch and a half on my arms. It’s crazy.” Ricki Lake has a really healthy attitude about her weight, measuring not by pounds but by inches. She doesn’t have the body type to be super slim like most of Hollywood, but likely by the end of the season she will be looking great! Often when trying to lose weight, people get bogged down by numbers on the scale and let disappointment stop them from getting fit.
According to People, Ricki’s day includes a breakfast of oatmeal or an egg white and veggie omelette for breakfast, gazpacho and a chicken breast for lunch and turkey meatloaf and salad for dinner, along with “a bit of mashed potatoes.” She lets herself indulge a little when she feels a craving, which is actually really healthy.
Ricki Lake, 42, says, “Having my costumes taken in is the best feeling in the world,I’m a little self-conscious of my arms and my back fat but they’re trimming down really quickly. So I think the longer I’m in the competition, the better I’ll feel about my body.” Good luck, Ricki, in not only staying in the competition, but in getting in a shape you are happy with!
