Rihanna Gets Huge Tattoo: Sending Another Message to Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran?

Rihanna has seemingly added another angle to the love triangle between her, her ex Chris Brown and his girlfriend, Karrueche Tran. The cryptic Twitter action has continued, but real-time drama recently came when she and Breezy kissed at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards last Thursday, Sept. 6. The friendly smooch may have excited the very few who would like to see RiRi and Brown reunite and horrified others (Tran must have been in this latter category), but it undeniably attracted lots of buzz—as did the Barbadian beauty’s newly cropped, pixie cut. Turning a new page in her play book perhaps?

But her androgynous ‘do hasn’t been the only radical physical change the “Where Have You Been” singer has made of late. Also grabbing attention is a rather massive new bit of ink on her ribcage directly under her cleavage, which she showed off via Instagram. Maybe the even bigger shocker, though, is that neither the tattoo or the message accompanying the photo had anything to do with Chris Brown or Karrueche Tran.

“Goddess Isis – Complete Woman – Model for future generations – #GRANGRANDOLLY – always in and on my heart #1love,” Rihanna wrote, honoring her late grandmother who passed away in July after a battle with cancer. The tat is quite beautiful—in and of itself—but pretty extreme to have permanently branded on one’s skin. For this songstress, though, it’s just another to add to her body art collection, which is thought to include 18 tattoos now. The highly detailed, wide swath of ink extends across her entire chest with the Egyptian goddess’ wingspan taking up the most real estate. RiRi reportedly got inked at a parlor in London’s Soho neighborhood, and she must have been there a long time.

File:Rihanna 2012 cropped.jpgAs The Hollywood Reporter points out, Isis is said to symbolize the eternal mother and a friend to slaves, sinners and the helpless. RiRi really had a close relationship with her grandmother and obviously thought highly of her; her emotional connection was obvious during the interview the entertainer recently did with Oprah in Barbados.

Perhaps this huge new piece of body art means that RiRi is planning to wear even more sheer tops, midriff-baring moments and minimal bralette-style looks to show off her tribute to Gran Gran Dolly.

And, unlike her last tattoo in June, which had a violent undertone to it with a flying Egyptian falcon in the shape of a handgun, this goddess should draw far less controversy. Still, it’s unlikely that neither Brown nor Tran have not taken note of RiRi’s latest provocative move.
