Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart always cause a scene with a flurry of fan and media attention when they step out together, especially when it’s a red carpet affair such as the premieres of their hit series, The Twilight Saga. So it was a bit of a letdown when the fairer half of this duo, Stewart, 22, didn’t have her best accessory by her side when she attended the world début of Paul McCartney’s new music video, “My Valentine.” While her solo appearance sparked rumors of relationship trouble and other unconfirmed ponderings, the real reason Pattinson wasn’t there was twofold, but it had nothing to do with trouble in paradise or even an overbooked schedule.
“One [reason] was he didn’t want to make it the Kristen and Rob show and take away from the actual event,” revealed in insider to Hollywood Life. Talk about a class act. Robert Pattinson has long had the reputation of being a downright good guy, so it’s no surprise he made the respectful move to stay off the red carpet for Paul McCartney’s sake. Of course, there is probably no better person than the Beatles’ McCartney to understand the fan frenzy.
But that’s not all! The second explanation to why Pattinson wasn’t with Stewart is far more interesting. “They have a clause in their Twilight contracts that they can only appear together at a Twilight-themed red carpet. Twilight kind of owns some of their appearances they do together until Breaking Dawn is 100-percent completed,” affirmed the source. This detail in the couple’s contracts was probably a pretty smart move by the movie executives. If Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart showed up arm in arm to every event (not that they even would!), it might take some of the special magic out of their Twilight premieres, where fans wait on pins and needles to see them during their rather rare red carpets together.
Not that the Snow White and the Huntsman actress didn’t cut a plenty impressive profile on her own for the “My Love” party, with her trendy schoolgirl-slash-menswear-inspired look turned head: black blazer, white blouse and high-waisted, nearly knee-length blue skirt, paired with patent loafers. The finishing touch? Bright apple-red lips, fitting of a solo Snow White, indeed.
