After a gorgeous royal wedding, the newly married couple spent the afternoon at a reception hosted by Prince Charles and Camilla. The reception was a more private affair, taking the wedding guest list of nearly 1,900 and pairing it down to a mere 650 for a late lunch.
The reception’s menu required 21 chefs to prepare over 10,000 items for guests including Quails Eggs and Scottish Smoked Salmon. Pol Roger NV Brut Reserve Champagne was the official drink served to the guests with other alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available. The center piece of the reception was the 17 individual fruit cakes that made up an eight-tier wedding cake.
The cake was decorated to mimic architectural designs of the Picture Gallery in Buckingham Palace. The 900 individually iced flowers each held personal meaning according to the Language of Flowers. The white rose, daffodil, shamrock, and thistle all prove how much country means to the couple as each is a national symbol of a part of Great Britain. The other 13 flowers represented many of the traditional feelings of a wedding including love, luck, and happiness.
The beautiful reception was a perfect ending to a royal wedding that has introduced the royal family to a new generation across the world. The newlyweds finished their night at a party meant for close friends at the palace where Prince Harry even had breakfast ready Saturday morning for friends that were still partying.
