Russell Brand has confirmed what many already suspected about his divorce from Katy Perry. The couple seemed to have a solid relationship, but rumors of problems began to circulate shortly after Katy went back to work on her tour. For the longest time, the couple denied there were any problems, which they had every right to do. Their marriage issues are really nobody’s business.
Now, nearly six months after filing for divorce, Russell is offering a bit of an explanation as to why he dropped divorce papers on Katy when the two were supposed to be on vacation together. He reluctantly told Howard Stern about his marital woes in a recent interview.
The comedian says it took a little time before he realized, “this isn’t really working out, it’s a difficult situation.” The situation was made more difficult by Katy’s touring schedule and Russell’s own job commitments. He adds, “I was really, really in love with her, but it was difficult to see each other.” Another Hollywood marriage has become the victim of the demanding world of showbiz.
It was not solely about the time apart. Russell Brand basically blames Katy for refusing to settle down. “She’s young, successful and dedicated,” he explains. And here is the deal breaker, “I was really into the idea of marriage and having children.” Didn’t he realize Katy was just hitting her career prime? It would have been career suicide for her to drop everything and drop off the radar and have kids. She talked about doing that in the future, why couldn’t he have waited?
Not to mention, shouldn’t they have maybe talked about this major issue before they got married? Oh well, it is all in the past now and both seem to have moved on with people more suited to their lifestyles.
