Russell Brand reportedly wants to date Katy Perry’s look-alike Zooey Deschanel. So is this really all that surprising?
After all, Zooey shares a lot more in common with Katy than just her big, beautiful eyes and dark hair—she also has a whimsical sense of style; she can sing; and she seems like an energetic, fun girl to be around. However, there are some traits about Zooey that Russell might prefer—she doesn’t seem to be as much of a party girl, and her indie spirit might appeal to him more than Katy’s mass-marketed music and image. Zooey also doesn’t brag about her breast size all the time (that’s probably one minus in Russell’s mind).
An insider told OK! Magazine that Russell Brand has had his eye on Zooey Deschanel for a very long time, and he’s even been sending flirty texts to her. Zooey is also going through a divorce, so they do have that in common.
But Zooey isn’t so sure about Russell—she’s wary of his past as a womanizer, and she might not be ready to jump into another relationship.
However, there’s another reason that she might not want to date the funnyman. People always talk about how she and Katy Perry are look-alikes, so she probably knows that she’ll be the butt of tons of jokes if she gets with Russell Brand. People will say that he’s just using her as a Katy replacement because they look so much alike, and no girl wants a guy to date her just because she resembles his ex.
However, Zooey Deschanel is reportedly “intrigued” by the thought of working with Russell.
Perhaps he could play one of her character’s love interests on New Girl—it’s not hard to imagine him playing the odd type of guy that quirky Jess falls for. He could basically play himself and it would work, although it would be nice to see him being a character other than Aldous Snow.
It would actually be pretty fun to see Russell Brand star with Katy Perry’s look-alike in something, but hopefully Zooey doesn’t fall for his charms in real life—she and Joseph Gordon-Levitt need to realize that they were meant for each other.
