Ryan Seacrest Gives New Year’s Twitter Status Updates from Times Square Ball Drop Site

Just hours from now, Times Square will be “rockin'” with a huge crowd, including the legendary Dick Clark and host Ryan Seacrest.  Jenny McCarthy will be Ryan’s co-host, and a nice variety of musical acts will perform from NYC to usher in the new year, 2011.  Seacrest is already in New York City’s Times Square and has been providing Twitter status updates prior to the big ball drop.

Photo via Newscom Just about five hours ago, Seacrest was re-tweeting his lovely co-host Jenny McCarthy on his Twitter profile.  Ryan’s hoping to be the “chosen one” once the clock strikes midnight so he’ll get a kiss from the former Playboy model.  Of course, Julianne Hough might not like that too much.  Seacrest’s tweet earlier this afternoon read:

Putting my long johns on now! RT @JennyMcCarthy: Watch me and @RyanSeacrest tonight. We r gonna get it on. Whoop whoop.

By the way it appears that “whoop whoop” is Jenny’s catch phrase as she’s used it several times on her Twitter profile.  Ryan Seacrest has also been giving fans the updates on tonight’s show which has two separate episodes.  According to a Tweet a little over a half hour ago:

We go live at 10pm eastern. Dick clark is on his way too RT @dcat_tweedy: @RyanSeacrest seriously Ryan when do you start tonight?

The New Year’s Eve show on ABC runs from 10-11PM EST with a half hour break for news.  The show resumes at 11:30PM EST until 1:08AM when they bring in the New Year.

It appears that there will be yet another big crowd on hand for the 2010 New Year’s Eve ball drop too.  One of the best tweets of them all has Seacrest giving a shot of Times Square just around 5:30PM EST to show how much of a crowd has already assembled!  Seacrest tweeted:

5:30 in NYC… Times Square packed to the brim! http://yfrog.com/h3wy7hj

The picture that Ryan has linked to tells the story.  The good news for NYC and Times Square is that this year’s live ball drop won’t be in the freezing cold weather like it has been in past years.  Crowds won’t have to huddle so close together to keep from getting hypothermia!

So it appears everyone is ready to once again bring in 2011 including Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy.  While Dick Clark will be counting down until the ball drops, it doesn’t appear Dick has embraced Twitter like Seacrest, McCarthy and other celebs have.

Seacrest continues to be one of the more Twitter-friendly celebs of the year and he appears to love the technology.  As of last check, Seacrest’s follower count on Twitter was nearing 4 million, and it could get closer with tonight’s show.  It’s going to be interesting to see if Ryan Seacrest continues to do these live Twitter status updates right until the ball drops.  Will he have the time to do so?  Will he tweet about his midnight kiss with Jenny McCarthy?  Time will tell!
