As the Ryder Cup 2012 schedule and live streaming online coverage continues Saturday, viewers will likely see Tiger Woods on the sidelines. That’s because the pro golf star has been benched after losing both matches with Steve Stricker on Friday. However, it may be in the best interest of the United States team that Woods takes on the role of sidelines supporter.
The Ryder Cup live stream feeds are presented on Saturday beginning at 8:30 AM EST, with coverage also happening on NBC for television viewers. The 39th edition of this famous tournament is being held in Chicago and lasts through Sunday afternoon. Fans get to see plenty of star players on the field, but so far Tiger has not been “up to par” so to speak.
While US captain Davis Love III may get some backlash for his decision to bench Woods for the morning, he commented on the choice saying:
“We just don’t want guys to be worn out. We need Tiger and Steve in the afternoon (Saturday). We need Tiger and Steve on Sunday (in singles).
There is so much that goes into this week. … I think Tiger needs a rest, Steve needs a rest, I need a rest. It’s a team effort, and Tiger and Steve are very supportive friends of mine. They told me they would do whatever I asked them to do.”
Tiger and Stricker lost in their matchup to the team of Lee Westwood and Nicolas Colsaerts on Friday, with Colsaerts putting in an impressive early performance. Despite the early woes by Woods and Stricker, the US entered Saturday’s Day 2 action leading Europe 5-3. They’ll hope for great performances from other stars to continue to hold onto that lead for Saturday and Sunday.
The action starts early Saturday morning on the live s tream with stars like Westwood, Donald, Mickelson, Simpson, Furyk and McIlry all getting early matchups. Fans can watch the live streaming Ryder Cup coverage online throughout the day.
Do you think Tiger Woods can turn around his early dismal performance and help the United States?
