Sandy Hook Latest: Schools Superintendent Resigns

Newtown Superintendent of Schools Janet Robinson has announced her resignation, just three months after Adam Lanza murdered 26 teachers and students inside Sandy Hook Elementary School. Can you fault her for wanting to leave Newtown, and go to another town? It has to be difficult to go into work every day after what happened there.

Robinson tendered her letter of resignation March 5, and the Newtown board is now searching for an interim replacement. There are so many unanswered questions about the shooting. The authorities won’t release the death certificate of the victims, or the search warrants for Adam Lanza’s home and car. Why are they keeping so many things secret? And, is there some ulterior reason why Robinson is resigning too suddenly, or is she just ready for a change?

The Sandy Hook shooting has become a focal point for the debate over the Second Amendment and assault rifles. After the horrific event, Janet Robinson became an outspoken proponent of gun control, and even testified before the United States House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. Since the shooting, Sandy Hook Elementary pupils have been attending classes in another town.
