Sarah Silverman Bigger than Oprah?

Will Sarah Silverman ever achieve Oprah Winfrey’s level of pop culture domination? Maybe not, but she has achieved search engine domination. Google has released their “Zeitgeist 2010: How the world searched” report, offering an interesting glimpse into what people across the world are searching for. On Google’s list of “Fastest Rising TV Show Hosts” in the US, Sarah Silverman came out well ahead of Oprah, taking the number one spot.

Silverman bested Oprah hands down in sheer search-i-ness. Oprah Winfrey placed a lackluster fourth behind Conan O’Brien (#2), and Craig Ferguson (#3). Yes, Craig Ferguson beat out Oprah. He should take those numbers to CBS and see about a raise.

Speaking of Craig Ferguson, the “Late Late Show” host beat out fellow CBS colleague, and host of the “Late Show,” David Letterman. Dave came in tenth after Tyra Banks (#9), and Jay Leno (#8). To be fair, Jay Leno’s search score may have been bolstered by the whole Conan vs. Jay debacle earlier in the year.

But, enough about everyone else, let’s get back to Sarah Silverman vs. Oprah. How did this happen? How did a woman who wrote a book titled, The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption, and Pee beat the mighty Oprah? Perhaps a better question would be why didn’t Oprah select Silverman’s book for her Book Club?

Of course, there are some questions that just can’t be answered.
