Dear Pam:

You’ve helped me in the past, so I come to you again. I have a problem. I can’t get my jeans zipped and I haven’t gained wait.

Sue

Dear Sue:

If you haven’t gained wait, then you need to learn patience. In the meantime, get some plyers.

Pam

Dear Pam:

I did as you suggested, but the players wouldn’t cooperate. Maybe the girls’ volley ball team was a bad idea. Should I ask for help from our football team?

Sue

Dear Sue:

How old are you?

Pam

Dear Pam:

Old enough to know that the egg came first. So, can you help me?

Sue

Dear Sue:

Yes, buy Len Maxwell’s book A Writing Book for Old Fartz. Learn grammar. Then feel free to write back—after you’ve read the book.

You’ll find it on my blog: pambrittain

The challenge was: Using prose or poetry, write a real or fictional letter to a real or fictional advice columnist and then write the advice you might read from that same columnist.
