Scarlett Johansson, who plays the Black Widow in the new action flick, The Avengers, reports that the bruises from fight scenes were ongoing. Constant. Practically permanent. “You just have to get in the mindset that, for the next five or six months, you’re going to be permanently bruised,” the actress says of filming the movie. For months? The things celebs have to put up with, for a picture that will never win an acting Oscar nomination. But it is already taking in lots and lots of money, and that’s good, too.
It was all easier this time, reports the Winnipeg Free Press. Remember Iron Man 2, where Scarlett Johansson introduced the character of Natasha Romanoff? That was tough, because the actress had no fighting experience. “But this time around, I had that experience and could learn faster. That was to my advantage because I had so many fights to learn. It was nuts.”
But really, wasn’t the main thing to look gorgeous, even when all around her was blowing up? Scarlett says not. “I never think about my characters as being sexy. It’s not as if I actively look for sexy roles, it’s not a requirement that my character be pretty and delicate.” And she especially hates, Scarlett Johansson says, when an actress looks untouched by action that would have most people in the hospital. Or at least, have their makeup disturbed.
That’s not the case, here. Scarlett gets right into the mayhem. “I totally lose control of my face. When you see a pack of giant 6ft 7 stuntmen coming after you with huge staffs, you’re just like, ‘Argh!'” Right! Anyone would agree with that. If you don’t think so, just watch the movie-goers. “The Avengers is downright harrowing.” And Scarlett Johansson surely deserves some kind of award.
