State Senator Donne Trotter of Chicago is a gun control advocate who opposed concealed carry legislation in his state. He was arrested for attempting to board a plane with a firearm at O’Hare International Airport.

Trotter, 62, was charged with a Class 4 felony, “attempting to board an aircraft with a weapon,” as reported by the Chicago Tribune. The charge can carry a prison sentence up to three years. The longtime gun-control advocate was carrying an “unloaded .25-caliber Beretta in his garment bag along with a clip containing six live rounds.” He told officials that he forgot that he had the weapon.

Donne Trotter is only against other people carrying a weapon, it seems.

Is his belief deeply held or is it a matter of politics? Currently, he is seeking former U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson Jr.’s congressional seat. Jackson finally stepped down amid “federal ethics probes and a diagnosis of bipolar depression.”

Illinois is not exactly known for its ethical leaders, but this is getting ridiculous!
