Shaun White dazzled the world at the 2010 Olympics Wednesday night with his snowboarding feat, the McTwist 1260. White had already scored high enough to win the the gold medal with his first snowboarding run of the night. The second run was just a victory lap – icing on the proverbial cake. But White didn’t want to disappoint his fans, who were waiting to see his latest trick, the McTwist 1260, a “saucy” move that White created in the wilds of Colorado at a training half-pipe built by one of his sponsors, Red Bull.
Long before White was wowing crowds on the world stage, his was an 11-year-old snowboarder and skateboarder from Carlsbad, California. Early on, he showed the sick skills that would one day earn him two gold medals. Here’s the video of 11-year-old Shaun White:
