Earlier today, a shooting incident near 13th and U Streets NW in Washington, DC took the life of one person and injured two others, one critically. The shooting happened after the end of a funeral.

The U Street shooting in DC took place after a funeral for Ashley McRae. Shortly after the procession started, shots were heard. Two cars sped around from the 13th Street address of the church where her funeral was held to U Street where the shooting continued. One of the cars flipped onto its roof. The other crashed into a truck.

It is unclear whether the fatality was due to the shooting or a car crash. The two survivors are being treated at a DC-area hospital. One of the shooting victims was described as being in critical condition by DC police, according to MSNBC.

McRae was shot to death Sept. 18 after visiting a nightclub in the northeastern area of DC. Rival gang members may have attended her funeral and wound up having an argument, according to witnesses.

The U Street shooting in DC makes you wonder how stupid some people are. They attend a funeral for a shooting victim and bring guns. Isn’t that like going to a funeral for a stabbing victim with a knife strapped to your leg? Meaning the wrong kind of message and a harsh reminder to the survivors of what led to the funeral in the first place?

Bad enough Ashley McRae’s family had to bury their daughter and sister. Now the funeral gets to be national news because some fools had to push it.
