An unnamed suspect shot two policemen today at the Pentagon. The gunman walked up to the Pentagon earlier this evening, at around 6:40 eastern time, and opened fire. He struck two officers from the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, and fortunately, neither sustained serious injuries. The suspect, however, was struck with returning gunfire, and is in serious condition.

The shooting took place in the Pentagon Metro Station, just outside the main entrance. With over 26,000 Pentagon employees, hundreds of them were ordered to follow “Code Red” procedures; the entire building was locked down with no entry inside or out. After 45 minutes, all other exits besides the front main entrance were re-opened.

No motive has yet been determined, and the suspect is under custody now.
