Showtime has a new lineup for Sunday nights, and it seems to be paying off for the network. Last night, one returning show and two new series premiered (Californication, Episodes, and Shameless) with decent ratings.
Sunday night a success
Last night Californication returned for its fourth season and did better than any other previous season premiere (848,000 for the first showing with a combined 1.12 million viewers including the encore).
After the David Duchovny series came two new shows, Episodes and Shameless.
Though Episodes is the new comedy from Matt LeBlanc, he was not in the series premiere all that much, but it still brought in 902,00 viewers. It was funny enough, and the scenes for the next episode seem promising.
Finally the new drama starring William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum, Shameless, premiered at 10PM and brought in 982,000 viewers. It was “Showtime’s biggest drama series debut in seven years.” That’s impressive, and with such a strong cast including Joan Cusack and Justin Chatwin, it’s no surprise why many watched it. However it does deal with mature subject matter, so just because the main family consists of a group of children, don’t let your kids watch it.
Did you watch any of the Showtime series last night?
