SLIGHTLY BITTEN

Born before our liberty embraced

Another land her lineage traced

I was young and she was not,

Shrouded by immortality

Offered up that gift to me

I was young and she was not,

Pale fingers traced the jugular vein

Moist tongue drove the heart insane

I was young and she was not,

Promised me eternal life

If I would welcome her as a wife

I was young and she was not,

Cold breath fell upon my skin

Prepared to sink her canines in

I was young and she was not

Barely scratching surface flesh

Blood seeped out and trickled fresh

I was young and she was not,

Before the tissue could fully break

Pierced her breast with wooden stake

I was young and she was not,

Though slightly bitten seemed not much

My soul fell victim to vampire touch

I am old and she is not
