‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Isn’t Losing Mary Murphy as a Judge

Despite rumors to the contrary, it doesn’t look like Mary Murphy will be leaving the Fox hit show, So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD). It’s true that show host, Cat Deeley accidentally slipped and called Mary, Mia Michaels this week. However, that’s all it was—a slip.

Contrary to rumors that Murphy is getting replaced next year with choreographer, Mia Michaels, that just isn’t the case—at least according to show insiders who ought to know. “Mary is our resident judge,” they emphasize proudly. “She’s not going anywhere.”

As for Mia Michaels, she isn’t even listed among the guest judges for the rest of this year’s competition. While she’s still a favorite among many at SYTYCD, that doesn’t automatically qualify her to take over Mary’s seat. She’s a lyrical dancer. Murphy’s specialty is ballroom.

Chances are someone just picked up on Deeley’s inadvertent slip and decided to run with the ball. It’s always fun to stir things up for any hit television show and So You Think You Can Dance is no different.
