There’s recent reports of Sony PlayStation Network down issues on today 9/21. Many are wondering if the PSN will be back online anytime soon. Should PS3 players be concerned over the PSN, or is the latest status update reassuring?
Stanley A. Miller II of Journal Sentinel notes that players are having issues connecting to the Sony PlayStation Network today. He reports that Sony and its PSN workers are aware of the issue as they tweeted earlier:
“We’re aware that some of you are having issues trying to log into PSN. We’re working to resolve the issue, and we’ll update you here.”
There’s no timetable right now on when the network will be back online again and no recent Playstation blog updates. Miller notes that the most recent Sony PlayStation Network update included a new terms of service agreement. This agreement in effect said that players who want to use the online service must agree to waive their right to collectively sue the Sony company.
This latest Sony PlayStation Network down issue may give many players haunting flashbacks. The network was hacked months ago, and lead to serious downtime before the PSN was back online. It also lead to an uproar over how the company responded to the hack attack and how info was not secure on the network. Sony can ill afford another repeat of that incident. Luckily, it appears this latest downtime is more about fixing some upgrades, or a minor issue. That may not be re-assuring, but give it a few hours, or a day. At this point, those who were patient with the last downtime issue, know that good things come to those who wait!
