St. Louis Cardinals rumors have Kyle Lohse possibly heading to another team through free agency this offseason. There is a lot of buzz around Lohse, with several teams expected to offer pretty good contracts to the starting pitcher.
With Scott Boras as his agent, it is already clear that Lohse is going to cash in on a market short on impact starting pitchers. Teams that have been linked to him already include the LA Dodgers, Texas Rangers, and LA Angels, but that list could grow to include the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers as well.
The Cardinals have a lot of competition for Lohse, raising the strong possibility that the team will either have to open the checkbook or see him sign somewhere else. Last year, Lohse posted an amazing 16-3 record to go with a 2.86 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. It was his best season with the team yet, showing that he may have really figured things out on the mound.
Other than Zach Greinke, Lohse is probably the best pitcher available as a free agent. That raises his value, even though he is 34 years old at this point. Teams like the Red Sox could really use someone like him, which is enough to worry even the die-hard Cardinals fans. The next week will be very important as his future gets decided.
Do you think that these St. Louis Cardinals rumors will turn into Kyle Lohse signing as a free agent somewhere else? Can the Cardinals recover from losing Lohse?
